is a nonprofit organization made up of experts and recognized leaders in various disciplines, such as neurocritical care, neurosurgery, endovascular neurosurgery, critical care medicine, stroke, neuroradiology, clinical nutrition, rehabilitation medicine, nursing, clinical pharmacy and respiratory therapy from numerous medical institutions in the country.
that optimal delivery of care for the neurocritically ill Filipino patient required multidisciplinary collaboration, the Society was founded on May 10, 2017 and was formally recognized by the Neurocritical Care Society as an affiliate of the NCS International Affiliates Program on September 15, 2017. The Society currently has 38 members and is steadily growing.
The aim of the Society is to deliver the highest quality of care and provide support for patients with critical neurological illness in the Philippines, focusing on several key goals namely, quality patient care, professional collaboration, research, training and education, and advocacy. With these goals in mind, the PNCS seeks to create local programs to educate and empower healthcare professionals in maximizing the delivery of neurocritical care especially in far-flung areas where there is limited access to healthcare. Among the long-term goals of the organization is the development of local management guidelines that will allow standardization of care for the neurocritically ill even in hospitals with limited resources as well as the creation of networks that will allow the expedient and coordinated transfer of patients to tertiary hospitals where optimal care can be provided.
